Does My Blog Have To Be All About My Business?

You have decided to set up a blog to help market your business. You have chosen a great way to help make your business known on the Internet. You are looking for a good place to start you are curious about what your blog should be based on. Specifically, does your blog have to relate to your business?

When you first start blogging, it is going to be tempting to blog about anything everything that you want to share with people. Maybe you just purchased a new automobile are excited to share the news with everyone. Your getting married want to let everyone know that as well. Your business is providing press release services for companies but you want to blog about a business that your friend just started. Is your business blog appropriate for subjects such as these other non business related matters? No, the blog you use to market your online business should only be used for that purpose only.

Your blog should only relate to your business for a few different reasons. First, you created your blog with the intent to market your business. You are not marketing things going on in your personal life other subject matters that you are interested in. If you are going to blog about things non business related, than the search engines are going to recognize only the content that you post. While you may have users visit your blog, they are going to be there because they searched for terms on the search engine that has nothing to do with your business. This means that your blog readers are not those who are interested in the products you sell the services that you offer.

Second, blogging about non business related subjects will not do anything for the traffic count of your business website. Even if you provide links going to your website, as mentioned above, no one will click on them because they are only interested in your blog content.

For SEO purposes, you want to have relevant important inbound links going to your business website. If your blog posts are not relevant to your business, the search engine will not recognize the relevance will not look at the inbound link from your blog to your business site as a good one. Also, in order to gain good search engine rankings, the posts on your blog should be relevant to what the blog is about. If your posts are half personal half business related, it will confuse the search engines.

Hands down, the blog you have to market your online business absolutely needs to relate to your business. This does not mean that you have to mention your business in every single post, but the content should stay in line with a similar subject matter relating to your online business.
