Facebook is one of the largest social networks and they are now offering paid advertising in the form of PPC ads.

Demographic Advertising

One of the things that I do like about Facebook advertising is that you can demographically target your ads to specific genders, ages, geographical areas and education. This at least gives you a better way to hit your target audience with ads written specifically for them.

Pay per Click Only

As you only have to pay each time someone clicks your ad, you can get enormous exposure without having to pay unless your ad is clicked. Because the Facebook network is huge, this means that you can get 120 000 exposures but pay for your 10 clicks if your ad doesn’t work too good.

Facebook advertising also offers graphs like the one above so that you can visually see how well the ad is performing although there doesn’t seem to be any way to adjust an ad if it performs badly. Just write another and pause the initial ad. You also have to wait for approval of the ad before it shows. Doesn’t take too long though.

Tips & Things to Note

  • Test your titles
  • Send people to a landing page just like Google Adwords or directly to product page
  • Works best to advertise a specific offer or product
  • Demographic targeting is less specific than keyword targetting
  • Run multiple ads at once
