Should We Change The Way We Write Just For Search Engines?

With all of the hype going around regarding the style of writing and content that should be on your website, there are tons of people asking questions. One of these questions is whether or not you should change your website’s writing to please the search engines only.

The writing on your website can sometimes make you feel like you are in a catch 22. The SEO experts tell you that the writing needs to be search engine friendly, but you also want content that will be easily read and understood by your users. If the writing on your website looks foreign to people then no one will visit your website right? While users may visit your website, no one will hang around long if the content looks out of order. If you change the writing on your website and aim it at being only search engine friendly, it can also make the writing look out of place to the users.

Your website needs to have a balance between quality writing that users will understand and search engine friendly writing. How do you achieve this balance? First, do not be over zealous with how many times you use your website’s keywords in the writing. Over use of the keywords will make the user question just what exactly they are reading and it can also have an opposite effect in the search engine rankings. Your keywords should never be included in the writing more than three to five percent of the total content or article. Anymore than that, the search engines may believe it is spam and it will also read funny to your users.

Of course part of SEO is the content on your website. Due to this, you do need to have solid writing that the search engines will value as important and relevant to your website and to the market that your website is in. As mentioned, you need to have good keywords, proper keyword phrases and know how to use them within the writing.

When it comes down to the bottom line, you do not just need to write for the search engines, but you do need to have a good balance in your website’s writing. The writing needs to appeal to users so that they will continue to visit your website. It also needs to be search engine friendly so that the search engines will pick up on it.
